The words Cajun and Creole are often synonymous terms for southern Louisiana, yet though they are closely related they are different. The French-speaking Cajun people, trace their origins back to eastern Quebec in Canada to an area referred to as Acadie. In Louisiana, the region of Acadiana is most closely associated with where many of the Cajuns or “Acadiens” settled their families.
